Basking in the glory of His ever flowing blessings and grace, students of Atmiya Vidya Mandir are being benefited by the activity based learning; hence bringing laurels in various competition has become a customary feature but this time it is exceptional glory added to AVM’s hall of fame. Our students participated in the World Maths day contest among 1.3 million students from 212 countries correctly answering about 430 million questions participants worldwide and students of Atmiya Vidya Mandir have bagged myriad achievements in solving the Maths puzzles on line.
World Maths Day is an international mathematics competition. It is celebrated during the first week of March every year as a means of celebrating education and helping young children develop their numeracy skills. This year, more than a million students had registered online to be part of the celebrations at mathletics. This was a truly unique world event and through this, Maths Department at Atmiya Vidya Mandir explored a fantastic way to promote numeracy amongst the children. Past results of the same competition show that students have made commendable leap in their calculation speed and accuracy in their mental arithmetic skills and had lots of fun in the process.
The top 10 students in each age group (4-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-18) answering the highest number of questions correctly will receive Gold Medals. Every student who completes 60 games or more will receive a digital Platinum Award Certificate. The top 50 students in each Age group (4-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14-18) will receive a printed Gold Award certificate.
The endearing fame of the game is as follows:
Age group 4 to 7
Team Aryabhatta secured 2nd rank in the world.
Age group 8 to 10
Team Ramanujan secured 6th position in the world.
Age group 11 to 13
Team Newton secured 3rd rank in the world.
Age group 11 To 13
Team Pythagoras secured 10th position in the world.
Other groups: Archimedes, Fibonacci, Euclid, Bhaskaracharya and Fermat also made good scores and they are all in the Top 50 worldwide in their respective age groups.
The Math Department has left no stone unturned for ensuring such vertical growth of students in Mathematics. The official coordinator of this event, Prabhumagna Sir along with other math teachers slogged indefatigably for the students to win this contest.
“Calculation is an art but it’s also a matter of accuracy and every participant showed amazing concentration and invincible aptness to perform at their peak. Math plays such a fundamental role in the game that elite the calculation speed combined with accuracy to give them a competitive edge”, said Prabhumagna sir and other math teachers collectively, while sharing their experiences of this event. The winners and participant students’ joy knew no bounds when they achieved this worldwide fame by winning this contest.
